Emergency Medicine Clinical Operations and Administration Fellowship

Overview

The Case Western Reserve University/UH Cleveland Medical Center Clinical Operations and Administration Fellowship is designed to provide Emergency Medicine Residency program graduates with an immersive leadership experience. The two-year, non-ACGME opportunity gives the aspiring physician leader parallel professional opportunities to complement their clinical, educational and, as appropriate, research experience.

The fellow serves as an assistant medical director of our flagship academic medical center Emergency Department while also completing a didactic track tailored to her/his professional interests. This programmatic flexibility is intentional: Our goal is to have the fellow create a foundation and subject matter expertise that parallels their projected career trajectory. The fellow will apply these learned principles to specific performance improvement initiatives at the department and hospital/system levels. In this model, the fellow immediately becomes an engaged physician leader in our department and will collaborate regularly with key leaders across multiple disciplines. This collaborative capitalizes on the rapidly evolving impact of system engineering and process improvement science. Our experienced faculty will serve as actively invested mentors to ensure an optimal experience for our patients and our staff.

University Hospitals has a uniquely robust collaborative that includes the Institute for Health Care Quality and Innovation. Our many system partners provide the fellow tremendous opportunity to provide our patients the very best experience.
