"Systemness" in Emergency Medicine at UH - Teaching the Community ED Teams through SImulation

UH Emergency Medicine teaches more than just our residents and students. We teach attendings, nurses, APPs, medics, and RTs throughout the entire UH system, too! Dr. Riley Grosso, Director of Quality & Peer Review, along with recent grad Dr. Luke Apisa, have been leading quarterly hands-on simulation sessions in our community EDs. Content is based on key lessons learned in quality reviews by the UH Emergency Medicine Quality Network (EMQN) under the direction of Dr. Jessica Goldstein. This initiative has been well-received and has had an immediate impact on patient care. Check out “Systemness” in Emergency Medicine at UH to learn more!

“You can watch YouTube videos and read PowerPoints, but until you get your hands on the equipment and actually practice, it’s not the same…. Adult learners learn by doing… contextualize it by saying this is a patient you will see and have seen.” - Dr. Riley Grosso

“This is outstanding training content… an absolute game-changer for patient safety, quality and outcomes.” - Dr. Christopher Miller, Chair - Dept of Emergency Medicine, UH Clinical Network President
