Dr. Vicki Noble Promoted to Department Chair & EM Physician-in-Chief for UH
We are so thrilled to announce that Dr. Vicki Noble has been promoted to Department Chair of Emergency Medicine at UHCMC and Emergency Medicine Physician-in-Chief for the entire UH Health System.
Since joining the UH family in 2016 as Vice Chair of Academic Affairs (and Residency Program Director shortly after), Dr. Noble has been a leading force in the tremendous growth and transformation of our department and residency. She is a well-respected educator, advocate, clinician, and leader, and her ever-growing list of accomplishments and accolades, both institutionally and globally, is admirable to say the least. She will undoubtedly continue to take our department and system to greater heights, and we are so excited to have her as our leader.
Dr. Noble is a graduate of Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and completed her emergency medicine training at the Harvard-Affiliated EM Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. After spending a year in NYC for ultrasound fellowship at St. Lukes-Roosevelt, the proud Bostonian returned to her hometown where she developed the ultrasound program and fellowship at MGH.
She is one of the founding leaders in point-of-care ultrasound, a world-renowned ultrasound educator, and a true evangelist for the specialty. In addition to publishing over 100 articles, she co-authored the Manual of Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound, a core component of ultrasound curricula worldwide. She is the former Chair of the ACEP Ultrasound Section, President of the Society of Ultrasound in Medical Education, and has served on the Boards of many major ultrasound organizations, including AIUM, WINFOCUS, and PURE. She also served on the writing committee for the Critical Care Echocardiography board exam for the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 2016, Dr. Noble brought her expertise to UH and started our ultrasound program which spans many hospitals across the UH system.
Under her leadership as Vice Chair and Residency Director, Dr. Noble was pivotal in transforming our program and paving the way for new opportunities. She has been instrumental in expanding our Department to include nine fellowships and faculty expertise in toxicology, quality and clinical knowledge translation, sports medicine, pre-hospital/disaster medicine, global health, research, critical care, medical education and academic leadership, and ultrasound. She also worked with our immediate past Chair Dr. Chris Miller to establish University Hospitals Clinical Associates, a joint venture that integrates emergency medicine providers throughout the UH system.
Needless to say, we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Dr. Noble as our leader! Please join us in congratulating her!
